The Miss Indiana Teen isn’t the only honor Keegan went home with over the weekend.

As if the big prize wasn’t enough, she also won the Teen Vocal Award and the Joy of Life Award which are both presented on a community service basis.

But on day one of the week-long competition, Keegan was rushed to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy.

She was able to make it to that night’s pageant events less than 4 hours after being released from the hospital.

Keegan is the first Miss South Bend’s Teen to be crowned Miss Indiana’s Teen.

She’ll compete for the national award at a later date.

She says the best part of winning is knowing she will be able to continue to promote scoliosis awareness as she tours the state.

“Getting to represent Indiana is really special for me, because obviously I grew up here. But obviously I love this organization so much. It’s done so much for not only me, and my growth and my journey through becoming an independent and very social young girl. But also, for everybody else in the organization, it’s a scholarship organization and it helps us get our education and keeps women going after what they want and their passions,” said Keegan Connor, Miss Indiana’s Teen.

As part of her tour around the Hoosier State, Keegan will also be singing the National Anthem at the South Bend Cubs game July 7th.
